There’s been a lot of buzz about mobile optimization recently. In a total departure from their modus operandi, Google has announced in advance that they are making an algorithm change on 21 April and have explained exactly who is going to be affected. Their mobile search rankings are getting overhauled, and that means that any site that they can’t detect as mobile-friendly could see a major drop in mobile organic traffic.
In response to the announcement, WooRank has done some overhauling of its own – you’ll see it in the form of an entirely redesigned Mobile section in your reviews.
Here’s what’s new:
- Mobile Friendliness
This test checks for whether your site is mobile friendly for users. It detects dedicated mobile sites, and adaptive or responsive design. - Touchscreen Readiness
Does your user interface allow users to easily tap targets on their touchscreen? This makes a huge difference in mobile user experience. Don’t worry, though – we’ll tell you if you’re doing it right. - Mobile Compatibility
Certain kinds of content, like Flash or Java, can’t be accessed on all devices. Do you know whether mobile users on your site can see everything you have to offer? - Font Size Legibility
This one is self-explanatory – either the font you’ve used is readable to users on mobile or it isn’t. - Mobile Viewport
Users could try and access your site from devices of all types and sizes. It’s important to make sure that your site will adjust and render well no matter how small the screen is. - Mobile Speed
If someone is accessing your site on mobile, they don’t have time or patience to wait for it to finally load. Best practice says that above the fold content should load in under a second. This check includes details about exactly how to speed your site up for mobile users. - Mobile Frameworks
We’ll also show any Mobile Frameworks that we detect on your site.
So WooRankers, how does your site fare in our new mobile checks? Let us know in the comments section below!
